The Rearview Mirror

Not looking to give away my age here so let’s just say I wasn’t born yesterday. Ok I’m old enough to have been to young to view in the theater James Bond staring Sean Connery. Classic films, classic actor and always a beautiful automobile.

Like classic automobiles, chauffeuring was also a gig to be proud of. Something of an art form. Much of that today has been lost and not only because of ride sharing services, many just don’t appreciate the service. Personally speaking I enjoy being behind the wheel of a luxury automobile and while doing so, providing a comfortable ride for my guests. For those of us who appreciate the experience, it isn’t just our job or business we’re handling, it’s a pleasure.

The very first chauffeuring position I held was in Westchester NY. Vehicle of choice for the limousine industry was of course the Lincoln Town Car. Until Ford’s 2011 discontinuation of the vehicle, the Town Car had been an institution for over thirty years. Not the right decision by the auto manufacturer by any means.

July 2020 will mark eleven years I’ve been serving the Austin area, want to guess which vehicle I operated for the first four years of that service? You guessed right. Since then I’ve driven the BMW 750Li and Mercedes S550. Both machines handle well, both a pleasure for the driver and clientele.

Should you find yourself looking to explore Austin, the Texas Hill Country or any of the surrounding Texas areas, give me a call.

Fredericksburg Wine Country

After three months of shut in, social distancing and cabin fever, well it’s time to head out. No time to waste, gather your friends, family and fellow enthusiasts and lets hit it. Fredericksburg Hill Country has always been a hot spot on the weekend due to the dozens of wineries, distilleries and shops. Regardless of your comfort level theres a spot for everyone.

Here’s a list of locations I visited Saturday with clients. Keep in mind that before Covid-19 multiple establishments require reservations depending on party size, now with social distancing still in affect, it’s especially important to call ahead.

Remember to drink responsibly.

The New Arena

June 4th 2020 so they say.

Where have the days gone. The 3:30 AM wake up call, sunrise hours in the distance. It was sometime in February and waiting around the corner, March, SXSW and all that Spring had in its pocket. The incoming calls, emails and of course the occasional text, happy to have had them. Well the cancelations knocked just as loud and were just as quick to depart. Little did I know that the bottom would drop out as if Boulevard Chauffeur never existed. One by one like little soldiers they were no more.

How long would this last? Surely not indefinitely i thought. The phone conversations and multiple daily check in with the local and national news, not a appetizing recipe for this fella. Didn’t care for the unpleasantries that were many the opinions. Didn’t matter what I and billions of others had wished for, it happened and happened with a mighty force.

So here we are three months into Covid-19. Many have fallen ill and recovered however nearly a quarter of a million have passed away from the horrific symptoms. R.I.P.

Truly I wish the very best to each and everyone affected by the recent events.

Regards,

Lawrence W
